Sometimes, I surprise even myself! 🙂
Ahead of schedule and after many long nights, I am thrilled to share that I have published my second book—now part of a growing series: Nomad at Heart: A Memoir Collection by Gila Melamed.
This new chapter is titled:
Traveling with the Wind to Find MY Soul: A Nomad’s Memoir – Chapter Two.
It continues the journey that began in my first book, exploring life on the road, spiritual growth, and the quiet beauty of surrendering to the unknown.
Introduction (from the book)
What happens when you let go of control and allow the wind to guide you?
What do you find?
Freedom?
Fear?
Joy?
Uncertainty?
Adventures?
For me, it was the magic of all!
Magic? You might wonder how fear and uncertainty could possibly be magical. Well, when you let the freedom of the wind push you forward, you will find magic waiting for you at the end of the path.
When I designed the cover of my first book, I never imagined the need to add “Chapter One.” However, here I am, sitting in my room in Gray Jay Common housing at Winter Park Resort (working a seasonal job), designing my second book cover: A Nomad’s Memoir Chapter Two: Traveling with the Wind to Find MY Soul, while already living Chapter Three: My Dance with the Universe.
Confusing?
Probably!
Especially if you just stumbled upon my life story.
Like all my writing, I write for myself, partly as a healing tool and partly as a way to remind myself of the places I visited and to reflect.
It is a personal journal of my life on the open road as a nomadic solo traveler, shared through my blog and Facebook.
Chapter One began on October 2, 2022: I AM!: A Self-healing and Self-discovery Journey through Fear and Friendships. That book only came to life thanks to so many people who encouraged me to turn my posts into a book.
Discovering my ability to write felt like uncovering a treasure box within myself. It is a beautiful compliment to hear that I have a certain style. I do not know if I will ever fully understand this newfound gift, but for now, I embrace it.
Chapter Two: Traveling with the Wind to Find MY Soul brought challenges, or, as I call them now, “squeezes.” It gave me lessons that only experience could teach. It pushed me deeper into my spiritual journey, forcing me to confront my past and question my present.
Like my first book, this is a collection of my blog posts, woven with afterthoughts that arise as I put the pages together, rereading and reliving my journey on the open road.
It took me many months to feel comfortable traveling without a set plan. ’Traveling with the wind’ may sound poetic, but in reality, it often felt like struggling against the wind—full of uncertainty, fear, and the push-and-pull of learning to surrender.
I always knew I had the option to stop. To plan a structured route. To create a sense of control. But my personality has always been to give my heart and soul fully to whatever challenge I set for myself. Giving up is rarely an option. I knew I had to push forward—even when it was hard.
Looking back, I am grateful for my stubbornness. The challenges of last year pushed me deeper into discovering my soul’s essence—and the magic of the universe.
Nature will always be a gift I refuse to take for granted. But if there is one thing I have come to cherish even more, it is the incredible souls who enter my life.
Some have appeared for just a moment; leaving behind a lesson or a spark of connection. Others have stayed, becoming dear friends.
If my first book was about stepping into the unknown, this one is about learning to embrace it through storms and sunshine alike.
This is Chapter Two: Traveling with the Wind to Find MY Soul.
I hope you will enjoy reading my story as much as I enjoy living it—and that somewhere in its pages, you find a spark of inspiration, wisdom, or courage to embrace the unknown in your own way.
